Join APRA, in collaboration with the Amsterdam Psychedelic Integration Circle, on April 19 for a special Bicycle Day community meetup!
Bicycle Day marks the first intentional LSD experience by Albert Hofmann on April 19, 1943, followed by his now famous bicycle ride through Basel. Since then, the day has become a moment to reflect on the cultural, scientific, and personal significance of psychedelics, and in particular of LSD.
Schedule:
14:00 – Arrive at Common Ground
14:00 to 14:15 – Introduction to Bicycle Day
14:15 to 14:30 – Who were Amanda Feilding and Bart Huges?
14:30 to 16:00 – LSD-themed Sharing Circle
16:00 to 16:20 – Bike Ride
16:30 – Meet at Zorgvlied
We’ll meet at 14:00 at Common Ground to begin the afternoon with two short talks: First some background information on the history of bicycle day, followed by an intro to the work of Amanda Feilding, a British researcher and founder of the Beckley Foundation, and Bart Huges, a Dutch researcher and LSD advocate known for his unconventional ideas on consciousness and the brain.
Following this introduction, we will be guided through an LSD-themed sharing circle. This space is open to everyone, whether you come with personal experience or simply curiosity, you are welcome to listen and share.
To close the afternoon, we’ll take a symbolic bike ride to Zorgvlied Cemetery, where Bart Huges is buried, to reflect on the history of LSD and to pay our respects together.
New to APRA? Don’t be shy! This is a great opportunity to get to know us and what we do. Whether you’re a long-time member or simply curious, everyone is welcome!
