Trait mindfulness and personality characteristics in a microdosing ADHD sample

by | Dec 2, 2023

This study explores the effects of microdosing psychedelics on mindfulness and personality traits in adults diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) or experiencing severe ADHD symptoms. The research, conducted over 4 weeks with 233 participants, indicates that microdosing led to increased trait mindfulness, specifically in the aspects of describing and non-judging inner experiences, while decreasing neuroticism. Other personality traits, including conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and openness, remained unchanged. The use of conventional ADHD medication and comorbidities did not influence the observed effects. The study suggests that MD induces changes in normally stable traits, but further placebo-controlled research is needed to confirm these findings in a controlled setting.
